A new Scottish music CD recorded by a Perth choir includes a warm musical tribute to Perth man, Harry Bonthrone.
A Jambouree Welcome to Scotland, the just-finished recording from Jambouree Choir and Cabaret Singers, features original compositions by Jim Cleland. It includes “Harry’s Tune” which was written in memory of Harry Bonthrone, the great dancer and football enthusiast who died last year.
His grandson, Liam Bonthrone, plays piano on the recording, as well as performing a tribute to the late George Donald of “Scotland the What?” fame in a new song called “Our Glens”.
One of the highlights of A Jambouree Welcome to Scotland is Liam Bonthrone and Kenneth Maciver’s rendition of the comedy number, “Wachlin Hame”.
Younger singers from the choir can be heard in “Skyscraper Wean” and “Sam the Skull”. The CD is available from Concorde Music Shop, Smith Mearns in Charterhouse Lane, from choir members, St John’s Kirk and St Leonard’s in the Fields Church.
